OVERVIEW
MATERIAL
All ITS Trauma Plates are constructed out of Titanium, and treated with a specialized Dotize treatment which eliminates "cold-welding" and increases the hardness and fatigue resistance of the implants. Each plate allows for the flexibility to adapt each plate to the individual patient.
The use of the Titanium in the plates allows for easier removal of the implant, once the fracture has healed. There is also a reduced risk of inflammation and allergy due to a reduction in the release of aluminum and vanadium ions.
LOCKING SCREWS
The screws are made of TiAL6v4 ELI (titanium alloy), this difference in the hardness of the material between the plate and the screw creates advanced angular stability.
All locking screws in the ITS range of products allow for the screw to be locked in at any angle, 15° of the perpendicular. There is NO STRIPPING of the existing thread, and no loosening of the screws due to the interlocking into the plate. There is also the flexibility to re-lock screws into the plate at a different angle during the procedure.
DOTIZE TREATMENT
The application of the Dotize treatment to the ITS range of products has several results. By storing titanium oxides into the base material the proclivity of the titanium to micro welding and fretting under tribological load is strongly decreased. As well as decreasing the well-known affinity of titanium alloys to wear and corrosion.
